They join a growing list of businesses and individuals who have signed on to support the needs of displaced children in our community.

Having Premier Watersports join our sponsors is a huge addition and we appreciate them coming on board. They represent several major brands of watercraft, motors and accessories as well as providing exceptional customer service.  They will be manning the anchor stop at Lakeside Marina so be sure to stop in and say hello!

Watts Bar Lake Fest Update

Well we are about two weeks out from the events and this is always crunch time. All of the last minute things that need to be done pile up and it makes for interesting days (and nights). We are fortunate this year that we have a great group of volunteers helping with the events.

This year we have expanded to include a golf event and we are looking forward to seeing just how well it is received. Being the first year, I expect that it will be a success but it will take a year or two to get the word out.

This is the 5th year we have been doing the Lake Fest and I am still amazed at the response we get from some people who say they have never heard of Safe Haven! The good news is the word is beginning to spread and we have new sponsors and groups joining the cause all the time. The Watts Bar Yacht Club and Budweiser, who have been with us from the beginning continues to support us. This Year, Miller Brewing’s Carter Distributing and the Lion’s Club of Dayton, TN have joined us. Our sponsor list continues to grow and I am thankful for all of the companies and individuals who help. Let’s not forget the marinas, most all of whom are solidly behind the River Rally and look forward to having their marina as a stop along the way.

There is still a lot to do of course. We have created a state of the art facility to provide respite care to children here in Rhea County, and yes it is a facility that supports all of Rhea County. The home has operated on a limited basis and provides a safe and caring environment for these children in need while allowing them to stay in school here and in a semi familiar surroundings. We are still in the mode of looking for full time house parents so that we can expand the operation of the home and of course all of this takes money to operate.

I am optimistic that we can continue to get the word out and that more and more members of the local government, business and community leaders will get behind the Safe Haven Light House and support the children in need in our community! Come and Join Us, I promise you will make a difference!
